Terms of use
Placeholder This is a draft and not yet in effect. Marked blanks still need filling in, and it still needs a legal review.
Effective date: date
These terms apply when you use the MeerLingo Mac app, the optional account and this website. They are an agreement between you and legal name and address. If you don’t agree, please don’t use MeerLingo.
It’s a beta
MeerLingo is in beta. Features can change or stop working, and data can be lost, so export anything you can’t afford to lose. It’s free during the beta. If that changes, we will tell you the price before you are charged, and you can choose not to pay.
Your license
You may install and use MeerLingo for your own learning and work. Please don’t copy or resell it, or try to get around its limits or security.
Your account
An account is optional. Keep your sign-in safe, and give an email address you can use. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You must be at least minimum age to use MeerLingo.
Your content
The text you look up and the words you save remain yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the features you use, such as syncing your words between your devices. Our privacy policy explains where that text goes.
Only look up text you are allowed to process. Don’t send anything to a translation or AI service that you are not allowed to share with it.
Answers can be wrong
Translations, definitions and AI explanations can be wrong or incomplete. Don’t rely on them alone for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions.
Other services
MeerLingo can use Apple, Google, AI services you add and web search services. They are not run by us, and their own terms apply. If you add an AI service, you are responsible for your key and any costs it charges you.
Fair use
Please don’t use MeerLingo to break the law, harm others, overload or attack our servers, or scrape or resell its answers.
Stopping
You can stop at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or end the beta. Where we can, we will give you notice and time to export your data.
No warranty and limits on liability
MeerLingo is provided as it is, without any promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors. Warranty disclaimer and limit of liability, including what local consumer law requires: to be completed with a lawyer.
Governing law
Governing law and where disputes are heard: to be completed with a lawyer.
Languages
These terms are written in English and translated. Which version applies if they differ: to be confirmed with a lawyer.
Changes
When these terms change, we will update this page and its date. For a significant change, we will tell you ahead of time.
